Prominent ear correction

Medical name
Otoplasty

Indications
Excessively prominent ears, asymmetry

General description

Otoplasty is a commonly performed procedure. It usually can be performed under local anaesthetic (a numbing injection) but sometimes a general anaesthetic is requested. Mr. Chester removes a strip of skin and moulds the ear into a more cosmetic shape using permanent internal stitches.
Scars
Scars are located on the back of the ears
Aftercare
A head bandage is usually used for the first 7 days. Mr. Chester advises a head band for 6 weeks at night to protect the repair.

Post-operative stay
This procedure is performed as a day-case.
